Under this section we will outline the process of getting a puppy from us. We will try to answer many of the questions we receive from people interested in our weimaraners. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Our mission at Bellamy Weimaraners is to place each of our babies in wonderful homes where they will be loved and taken care of for their entire lives. We take great pride in selectively placing our puppies in the very best homes possible. Our top priority is to do our best to make sure each and every puppy has the best opportunity at a wonderful life. Our contract to purchase a puppy specifically outlines many things that protect the puppy, the buyer, and the seller.
All of our puppies come with their tails docked, dewclaws removed, and will be wormed. We will give the puppies their initial vaccinations and will send home the second round with you when you pick up your puppy. We require all homes to follow the vaccination schedule exactly as it is outlined by the Weimaraner Club of America. The rabies vaccination will need to be acquired from your vet. We will outline and walk you through the whole vaccination protocol at the appropriate time. Our puppies come with health guarantees that include hips and genetics. We request that each puppy owner see their vet within 3 business days after getting their puppy. If the puppy is unhealthy in any way at this visit and it is not acceptable to the new puppy owner, then we will take the puppy back and offer a full refund.
If at any point in the dog’s life its owner finds they are unable to keep the dog, we will be contacted immediately and will take back the dog. Our puppies cannot be re-sold, given away, or placed in another home. If the buyer of the puppy can no longer care for the dog themselves, then it will come back to Bellamy Weimaraners.
Puppies placed in pet homes will be sold with a limited registration and with the understanding that these puppies can never be bred. Bellamy Weimaraners who have proven themselves in the show ring, field and other areas will be the only ones considered for breeding. Any puppy placed in a show/field/etc. home will have show/field contracts and will be sold on a co-ownership basis.
All puppy owners will be required to register their puppies with the American Kennel Club. All the forms and applications will be provided to you. We strongly encourage all puppy owners to join the Weimaraner Club of America. Not only will you be getting the monthly magazine to learn about weims, but you will also be supporting our breed.
We do not ship puppies. We expect that all new owners will come to our house, meet us, and pick up their new puppy. Under certain circumstances we are willing to fly with your puppy in cabin with costs incurred by the buyer.
The puppy owners will agree to maintain their dog in an excellent condition by taking it to a veterinarian on a regular basis for check-ups and proper inoculations. They will provide all food, water and veterinary care for their puppy. The buyers will also agree to provide a loving home for the puppy where it will be part of the family. The dog will live inside, and not be considered and outdoor pet. The buyer agrees that the dog will not be used for medical/experimental testing, be chained/tied up, attack trained, or used for fighting purposes. The buyer also agrees to not let the dog roam free.
We do not sell puppies to agents, pet stores, businesses, or medical companies.
Most of our puppies are sold before the litter is even born. Most puppy owners find it exciting to follow the birth and growth of the litter. We require all interested parties to completely fill out a Puppy Questionnaire. We will review it and contact you to talk. References will be checked. Once approved, we will keep you updated regularly with the progress of the breeding and of the litter. We can’t promise anyone puppies until the puppies are born and vet checked, but we will let you know where you stand on the wait list. Being flexible as far as the sex of the puppy greatly increases your odds that a puppy will be available. However, we certainly try to accommodate your wishes if Mother Nature cooperates with us. At seven and a half weeks old the puppies will be evaluated and temperament tested by numerous knowledgeable Weimaraner people. During this evaluation process we will be able to place the best show prospects in show homes, field prospects in field homes, and all round good weims in pet homes. Through this process we will choose which puppy in the litter matches you and your family’s lifestyle the best. The puppies will be kept until they are 8-9 weeks of age. We will have a puppy party at our house where all new and old owners are invited. Everyone can meet all the puppies, the other owners, and we can go over care for your new puppy. We want everyone to feel like they have a great support system and that they are part of our Bellamy Weimaraner Family. It is always nice to be able to share in the success of your dogs relatives. We want you to keep in touch with us. Send us pictures, stories, and the newest accomplishment of your puppy. Each puppy will have its own special section on our website and it will be updated frequently. We want all of our owners to be proud of their beautiful dogs and to show them off. You will have our cell phone numbers and be welcome to call with questions, concerns, problems, or good news 24/7 for the life of your Bellamy Weimaraner.
Once the puppies have been vet checked at 3-4 days old, we will send out contracts to approved homes that are being offered a puppy. At that time we will require you to sign and send the contract back to us with a deposit to hold your puppy. The deposit will be half of the purchase price, with the remainder due when you pick-up your new puppy.
When we receive your signed contract and deposit, we will mail you a book about Weimaraners that we provide to all of our puppy owners. That way you will be able to read it before bringing home your new bundle of joy. We will also provide a binder for you when you pick up your puppy with all of their health clearances, pedigrees, and vaccination records.
All of the dogs we breed and breed to are at least AKC conformation champions, usually with multiple other titles. We believe and support the versatility of our wonderful breed. All dogs will be certified free of hip dysplasia and have no known genetic problems. We only select the very best dogs to breed to. You can have confidence that any puppy we breed was well planned and cared for. You are welcome to visit our home once approved and meet our weims. 
We breed usually for our own needs and because we are serious about improving the future of the breed. We never know how many pet and show home puppies we will have out of a particular litter; therefore we cannot guarantee anyone a puppy until they are a week old. We breed also to prove what a good producer our girl is and justify the quality of weimaraners we are producing. Therefore, anyone who wants to show, compete in obedience and/or the field with their puppy, will be higher on our list than people who don’t. We offer cash rebates for our puppy owners who put titles on their dogs. We are always happy to show our puppies for their owners. A dog must be unaltered to compete in the conformation ring. We will endure the traveling expense and handling of the dog as long as the owners pay the show entry fees. We feel that this is a win/win situation for both parties. You get the prestige of having a dog that you can say is titled and we can see our pup and add to the legacy of Bellamy Weimaraners.
